Milagre Nuvunga is the Executive Director of MICAIA Foundation. Having trained as a forester, Milagre worked with the Government of Mozambique in the Ministry of Agriculture, reaching the position of Director of Forestry Research and then National Director for Forests and Wildlife. In 1995, Milagre moved to the United States to take up a position at the UNDP as Forest Program Officer, where she stayed for three years, working mostly on Africa and Latin America. After a year back in Mozambique working with WWF, and a year as an independent consultant, Milagre was appointed as Program Officer for Environment and Development at the Ford Foundation Office for Eastern Africa. Over the six years in East Africa, Milagre worked closely with groups involved in natural product development, community tourism and environmental justice.
Andrew Kingman works with MICAIA Foundation on programme development and represents MICAIA UK of which he is a founding board member. Andrew studied economics and development and then established a British charity, Village Aid, to work on rural development in West Africa. In 1997, after eight years with Village Aid, Andrew took up the post of International Director at the Charities Aid Foundation in UK, responsible for work on civil society development in several African, Asian and East European countries. Changing priorities at CAF led to Andrew, in 2000, leading a small team from the international programmes to create a ‘spin-off’ called Allavida. Between 2000 and 2007, Allavida implemented community training and learning programmes in East Africa and Eastern Europe and spearheaded the development of new models of philanthropy and social investment to help scale up community enterprises.
Robert Waziwenyi started working with MICAIA Foundation in January 2008, based in Manica Province, as Programme Manager for the organic farming development. Robert has almost 30 years experience in farming extension work, training and farming with organic systems. Robert is Mozambican but has lived and worked mostly in Malawi and Zimbabwe
