How you can helpYou can help in many ways! But before we tell you how, let us tell you why we need your help. (If you want to skip the explanation, please click the button below to donate. MICAIA’s philosophy is to place raising money alongside building understanding and commitment. We welcome all financial contributions large and small, but most of all we want to expand our ‘family’ into a real movement for change. The people we work with need solidarity, not sympathy. What your money really buys.... To achieve local prosperity in a sustainable world, we need multi-year funding for major programmes that can transform the lives and livelihoods of thousands of people. We need to find sources of social investment to help take businesses to scale. We hope that one of the reasons you will support us and join our movement for change is that we use your support to help leverage this larger-scale funding. We aren’t asking or expecting big donations from individual supporters. Smaller contributions are vital to us in two ways. First, what we really need is the flexible working capital. Without it, we are dependent on project grants, meaning that there are periods when we have no money for essential support in the community. These examples show you truthfully how we will use your money. £75/$150 each month sponsors a Community Facilitator such as Prisca Ncangaza, allowing her to continue supporting thousands of people as they take action to bring positive change to their communities. £50/$100 each month pays the rent of MICAIA Foundation’s field office in Sussendenga village, meaning that our colleagues can be based in the community. £25/$50 each month puts the fuel in the motorbike of MICAIA’s Organic Farming Adviser, enabling him to reach and teach hundreds of farmers, improving their knowledge and skills and helping them increase their family incomes. We should add that, unless you tell us otherwise on your pledge form (and you can!), we will allocate 10 per cent of your gift to help us meet unproductive but essential costs such as our annual audit. The second way in which smaller-scale funding is incredibly important is in helping MICAIA sponsor a specific practical community project such as jam-making or beekeeping. Sometimes for as little as £500 or $1,000 we can get a group started on learning new skills. It’s a ‘let a hundred flowers bloom’ approach that helps identify people with the drive to take a lead in growing their small business, and it builds confidence in people to try new things. If you have a trust or company, or if you’re in the happy position to be able to make a larger single gift, we know a community that needs your help! Help MICAIA make it to a MILLION! We’ve set ourselves a target: annual global income from our valued friends and supporters of ONE MILLION....Metical ( the Mozambican currency). One day we might change to $, € or £, but it seems right to start with the Metical. 1 Million Metical = $40,000 or £20,000 or €30,000 Make a regular gift by standing order (monthly, quarterly, annually) Make a one-off gift but make a pledge to repeat your gift next year (we WILL remind you!) If you are a UK taxpayer, please use the Gift Aid form so that we can reclaim from the UK government all the tax that you paid on the money you can give us. So if you can give £100, we will reclaim £28 from the Government making your gift worth £128! Be a MICAIA Mobilizer Do you have some time to spare? Are you active in your community? Could you introduce MICAIA to your church group, your Rotary Club, or your school? At work, do you have an annual charity? Do you have friends or family who might share your commitment to working for a fairer, better more sustainable world? If you can help by introducing MICAIA and our work to others, please write to us with your idea or request. We have materials and presentations, and we might also be able to arrange for someone to talk. Please contact: andrew@micaia.org
